The Grand Canyon Trust
The Grand Canyon Trust (GCT) is a regional non-profit
conservation organization whose mission is to protect and restore
the canyon country of the Colorado Plateau-its spectacular landscapes,
flowing rivers, clean air, diversity of plants and animals, and areas
of beauty and solitude. The Trust has a long history of working on
air quality issues focused on protecting visibility. However, given
the potentially devastating effects of global warming on the ecological
heritage of the Grand Canyon and Colorado Plateau, the Trust is actively
promoting the development of clean, renewable energy.

Salt River Project
Salt River Project (SRP) provides electricity to nearly
860,000 retail customers in the Phoenix area. It operates or participates
in 11 major power plants and numerous other generating stations using. In
addition to traditional generating sources, SRP also seeks clean renewable
energy sources through its EarthWise Energy program. EarthWise Energy is
a more environmentally friendly way to produce electricity whether it be
energy from the sun, wind, the earth's heat, flowing water in our canals
and even decomposing garbage in landfills.
To date, SRP has installed two large solar plants, a low-impact hydroelectric
facility at the historic Arizona Falls at 56th Street and Indian School and
a landfill gas-to-energy plant on the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
In addition, SRP is purchasing geothermal energy from California's Imperial
Valley as well as wind energy from a wind farm
located in New Mexico.
Currently, more than 5,000 customers have signed up to receive EarthWise
Energy for a small monthly fee. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) estimates that 12 months of participation in EarthWise Energy has an
impact on the environment that is similar to planting two acres of trees
or not driving an SUV for 12 months, For more information about SRP's renewable
technologies, or EarthWise Energy, please e-mail enviro@srpnet.com

Western Resource Advocates
Western Resource Advocates (formerly the Land and Water
Fund of the Rockies) is a non-profit environmental law and policy
organization dedicated to restoring and protecting the natural environment
of the Interior American West. Strategic program areas include Water,
Energy and Lands. Western Resource Advocates uses law, economics,
and policy analysis to protect land and water resources, protect essential
habitats for plants and animals, and assure that energy demands are
met in environmentally sound and sustainable ways. WRA meets its goals
in collaboration with other environmental and community groups and
by developing solutions that are appropriate to the unique environmental,
economic and cultural framework of the region. WRA's Energy Project
promotes sustainable energy technologies-such as energy efficiency,
solar and wind power, and the cleanup of dirty power plants-in six
states in the Rocky Mountain and Desert Southwest region, relying
on an interdisciplinary team to develop policies and markets to support
expanded clean energy investments. To date, WRA's work in the energy
arena has helped catalyze over half a billion dollars of investments
in clean energy technologies and has directly reduced pollutant emissions
by tens of thousands of tons.

Wind Powering America Program
Wind Powering America, a program of the U.S. Department of Energy, is a commitment to dramatically increase the use of wind energy in the United States. This initiative will establish new sources of income for American farmers, Native Americans, and other rural landowners, and meet the growing demand for clean sources of electricity. Through Wind Powering America, the United States will achieve targeted regional economic development, enhance our power generation options, protect the local environment, and increase our energy and national security. To dramatically increase the use of wind energy in the United States, Wind Powering America concentrates its efforts in "stuck" markets, i.e., avoids investing resources in markets that are fully commercial and active; develops innovative pilot projects; replicates successes; and develops and disseminates targeted information, analyses, and tools - WPA augments the efforts of DOE's wind research program, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), and other wind related organizations to identify and address gaps in technical information and tools needed for its program areas.

Xcel Energy
Xcel Energy (NYSE: XEL) is a major U.S. electricity and natural gas company with regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. Xcel Energy provides a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.3 million electricity customers and 1.8 million natural gas customers through its regulated operating companies.
It also is the largest retail provider of wind energy in the U.S. More information is available at www.xcelenergy.com.

The Energy and Environmental Security Initiative
The Energy and Environmental Security Initiative (EESI) is an interdisciplinary research and policy center located at the University of Colorado Law School. The mission of EESI is to serve as a law school-based interdisciplinary body that is pivotal in developing and crafting state, U.S. and global responses to the world’s energy crisis; and to facilitate the attainment of a global sustainable energy future through the innovative use of laws, policies and technology solutions. In pursuit of this mission, EESI serves as an enabling environment for teaching and research into the impact of laws and policies on the scientific, engineering, sociopolitical, and commercial dimensions of sustainable energy; and conducts activities dedicated to understanding and improving the interface between laws, policies and technology solutions and progress toward a global sustainable energy future.

The Governor’s Energy Office (GEO)
Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. issued an Executive Order on April 16, 2007, recreating the Governor’s Office of Energy Management and Conservation as the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO). The mission of the energy office is to lead Colorado to a New Energy Economy by advancing energy efficiency, renewable and clean energy resources.
The office was originally created in 1977 to promote energy conservation in Colorado. The New Energy Economy embraces energy conservation as an important component in our energy future, yet requires a broader mission to meet the goals of expanding renewable and clean energy resources and opportunities for the state’s economy, environment and energy independence.
The Governor’s Energy Office recognizes the critical role the office will play in charting Colorado’s leading role in the provision of clean and renewable forms of energy. GEO will work with communities, utilities, private and public organizations, and individuals to promote renewable energy such as wind, solar, geothermal, and energy efficiency technologies in commercial and residential buildings. The New Energy Economy will benefit Colorado by bringing jobs and by protecting our venerable Colorado natural environment.

Interwest Energy Alliance
Interwest Energy Alliance is a trade association that brings the nation's renewable energy industry together with the West's advocacy community. This consensus-based, collaborative approach to new market and transmission development has proven to be successful since our inception in 2002. Together, our members support state-level public policies that harness the West's abundant -and inexhaustible- renewable energy and energy efficiency resources. Currently, our primary states of focus are
Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. www.interwest.org
